The invention and subsequent worldwide launch of the airbag was perhaps one of the great life-saving “moments” in history. While seatbelts certainly should not be discounted and, consequently, always worn, the advent of the airbag has made it so that accidents which might otherwise be fatal are far less tragic ordeals.
During a crash the seatbelt will restrain you, but there are unpadded parts of the car with which your body and head still can brutally come into contact.
